Volunteer Fire, EMS Grant Applications Available OnlineHARRISBURG – Senator Richard Alloway II (R-33) is urging local volunteer fire departments and emergency medical services organizations to apply online to receive grants through the Volunteer Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program. The online application for the grants is available at www.osfc.state.pa.us. Online applications are available now and will be accepted until October 23, 2009. "This grant program ensures that our volunteer first responders have access to the vital training and resources they need to continue to protect our lives and property," Alloway said. "I am thankful for the efforts of our volunteer fire and emergency medical services personnel, and I urge our local emergency organizations to apply for this vital funding as soon as possible." Grants may be used for the purchase or repair of firefighting or rescue equipment, construction or renovation costs for facilities, training or debt reduction. Grants range from a minimum of $2,500 to a maximum of $15,000 for volunteer fire companies and rescue companies or $10,000 for volunteer ambulance companies. Volunteer fire companies that also provide volunteer ambulance service are eligible to apply for both a volunteer fire company grant and a volunteer ambulance service grant.
