Alloway Urges Residents to Support Local Agriculture Through PA Preferred

HARRISBURG – Senator Richard Alloway II (R-33) is urging district residents to support local agriculture by purchasing "PA Preferred" products.

The General Assembly passed legislation recently that establishes PA Preferred as the official brand of state-sourced agricultural commodities. The new law ensures that the PA Preferred program will continue to help farmers and retailers market their products to local consumers.

The program was first launched by the Department of Agriculture in 2004 as a tool to help connect consumers with high-quality agricultural goods produced in Pennsylvania.

"The PA Preferred program serves as an important marketing tool for farmers and retailers by making sure locally grown products reach the right distributors, retailers and restaurants," Alloway said. "The program helps consumers identify locally grown products by including the familiar blue and yellow PA Preferred logo."

More information on PA Preferred is available online at www.papreferred.com.
