Alloway Supports Participation in National Traffic Safety Campaign

HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania has joined the "Stop the Texts, Stop the Wrecks" national traffic safety campaign, according to Senator Richard Alloway II (R-33).

The campaign features public service announcements that help educate young drivers about the dangerous consequences of distracted driving. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, distracted driving is the number one killer of American teens.

"It is extremely important to reach out not only to young drivers, but also to all motorists to help prevent distracted driving," said Alloway, who recently supported the creation of a new law that prohibits the use of wireless phones while driving. "I strongly support our state's participation in this program to help avoid needless tragedies on our highways."

More information on the campaign is available online at www.stoptextsstopwrecks.org.
